Hi James, You may have a failing plug lead causing one cylinder to not fire at low revs.
They fail at the plug end where they get hot.
You can check with an electrical resistance meter or invest in a new set of leads if you have had them a long time.

PS If you are tired of the 340 "image" I reckon a 340 would pass for a 4 X 4 if you mount the spare on the boot and paint the lower part of the doors textured black!
