Volvo stop/start on the manual cars is good and reliable. On my V50 it was still going strong on the original batteries after nearly 5 years and 72k miles.
I hate the set up on the XC auto. It stops the engine below 5 mph when you're still rolling which is just plain annoying when approaching a roundabout or junction. Why can't they set it to stop a second or two after coming to a halt. I've spoken to the dealer but they can't adjust the behaviour at all. Ultimately this just makes me switch it off this negating any benefits!
These days most of my miles are A road with little reason to stop so it's not a problem but just poor design IMHO. Current XC90 is the same so just a Volvo auto "thing"
