Clicked on the link on the previous post and extending my XC90 Volvo Warranty to 4 yrs in total is a possibility on the web site at a cost of £445 for 60,000 miles (whichever comes sooner - the years or the mileage) or £495 for 4 yrs or 80,000 miles (whichever comes sooner - the years or the mileage).

It didn't seem possible to extend to 5yrs total on the web site so we rang Volvo to ask about doing this.

Yes. It is possible to extend to 5yrs but you have to do this through a dealership. Such a Warranty is a bono fido Volvo Warranty and there are a few exclusions, such as hoses, brake components, exhaust pipes and similarly obvious stuff but Electrics and Mechanicals are included. The cost is £895 for 5yrs or 100,000 miles (whichever comes sooner).

As others have reminded us: An Extended Warranty is of absolutely no benefit to any dealership and is therefore a valueless feature if you offer the vehicle up in part exchange.

Taking out a vehicle Warranty Extension is only going to be of any use to you if you are going to be Selling The Vehicle Yourself.
