New solenoid coil arrived this morning, fitted to evaporator solenoid and now back cooking with gas!
Engine management light has come back on - I turned it off and it stayed off while running on petrol. The message related to misfire on cylinder 5 then, which I gather is not uncommon, I will probably find it is the same again but will chose to ignore it and check the codes every couple of weeks.
