It was partly tongue in cheek Mark but mainly a compliment to your cleaning of the parts.

The Eastwood stuff might be a good option but another one that comes to mind is Plasti-Dip.

Goes on like a paint from an aerosol, dries to a rubber like finish and can be peeled off in the future for any other repairs but remains tough and durable meanwhile.
