Suprised me too. I thought it would run off the 12v but it definitely consumes 400v range. Unless of course the 400v battery is keeping the 12v battery topped up which is a theory I have had for a while.

As for D5s with the aux heater the only one I know is Lexman's car. Perhaps he can let us know if he has a higher capacity battery than normal? (btw it is my understanding that all D5s have 2 batteries, a regular one and a small one to assist with the systems during stop start)
