Thanks both. Turning DSTC off also gave some rather strange behaviour. Whilst engine power seemed ok, car seemed to be refusing to move up from 1st gear (auto box).
I've decided i need to sort it. I've ordered a new sensor in the hope that its is that rather than the reluctor ring as i cant see anything wrong with that, however that may take a few days to arrive so in the meantime i thought i would try to test.
I thought you could measure resistance as a test so I got the meter out this morning and measured the left (faulty) side - open circuit. Great i thought - it has failed.
Just to be sure i thought i'd measure the resistance of the right hand sensor which is not displaying a fault.. - also open circuit!
Have i got my understanding wrong about how you test these? How can i test?
