1.7 l timing belt tensioner

I am bamboozelled here. I tried replacing the timing belt on my 340 1.7 but hit a snag. The Haynes manual say to loosen the nut and slaken the tensioner but mine doe not have a nut. The manual has a photo of the tensioner wheel with a large adjucting nut and a smaller holding nut off centre. Is it a different varriety or has mine been bodged?
