Turns out that I had two codes originally, one for the coolant temp sensor and then the 232 - which as rightfully pointed out was fuel trim mixture.
As with Stu's car it was a vacuum leak - split hose to the top of the turbo and the vac line to the bottom of the turbo was decidedly grotty so replaced that one too.
