Default D4192t3

Evening,

I am in the process of a timing belt change on my Volvo S40 1.9d (D4192T3).
However after an hour of looking I finally found the crankshaft locking hole on just above the sump join, beneath the oil filler.
The instructions I have suggest using an 8mm tool to lock the crankshaft once the camshaft is at TDC. However the 8mm tool does not still flush and I can still turn the crankshaft 10 teeth away from TDC each way.
Can anyone advise whether 8mm is the right diameter for the locking pin as to me there is far too much play.
Regards,

Gez
