The car is nearly 20 years old even tough a nice car I doubt anyone would try to break in wireslly in a old car like this. With a family and kids a new operating fobs would be a very practical addition to let kids in instead to have to open the car always with the door key. I know no aftermarket solution will ever be the same quality and security of volvo original ones.
The cheapest 2x new fobs I saw would cost me £150 + 2 x£35 for linking fobs with car labout hour + whatever cost of the software to be downloaded from volvo. This would be nearly £300 for new fobs operating in this car. This is a lot for fobs in a 16 years old car. I wondering how an aftermarket fob/receiver like this is linked with a potential operating volvo alarm. Is it completly independent? What would be the drawnbacks if any?
