Surely charging an
isolated battery (if you did, your text is confusing) would be the easiest thing for a charger : ergo, your charger is knackered.
I'd bite the bullet and buy a brand new battery, and later a new charger
£60ish, I got mine delivered next day for £56 (I think) UASA from a shop with a weird name.
