Light will stay on unless you clear the code from the ECU. If the fault (MAF unplugged) is no longer present, it may clear by itself after quite a few engine running cycles, but I'm not sure how many and maybe this isn't even true.

Seconded re. using the correct original Bosch part, these cars seem to be picky about MAF quality, and a cheap aftermarket part will probably cause further MAF-related issues, and probably end up being false economy. MAF failure isn't common on these, so a second-hand part may be a viable option - I did that on mine, although I later found the fault wasn't the MAF, but the second hand one worked just fine.
