I'm no expert but I'm inclined to think that, since the car will always start but the problem is recurrent, if this *were* to have anything to do with air in the fuel system then it's not such much the requirement for manual bleeding that's the issue, so much as there is still air getting getting into the system.

However there are many other potential causes, including leaks in the induction system and various intermittent sensor failures.

If it were my car, I'd be putting it on VIDA to see what error codes (if any) were being returned before I went further.
