Rather than disconnecting the battery and taking all the plugs out of the CEM, I would advise you invest in a flexible ratchet head spanner [13mm].

That way you only need to pull the carpet down a bit so the CEM can be pushed that little bit further down.

You can then gain good access to the bolts with the ratchet spanner, remove the bracket and CEM all at once to gain access to the filter door.

Yes, the Bosch filter I got also didn't have the black sponge on the ends like the OE one did.
