Hi yes thats the only reason I personally would use them. I wanted to fit wider, lower profile tyres but wanted steel wheels.
Some people who have fitted these brakes to 850's and have experienced wheel clearance problems have used a thin spacer to help things but it isn't something I have first hand knowledge of.
