You're right there BUT then again: you can always alter the way of wear on an engine with a different driving style.
I've seen engines, clogged up after 100.000 miles from one owner. Bad compression rates. Very rattly. The buyer then drove it hard for a while (really hard meaning when cold it was thrashed etc.) and the rattles went. The compression rates lifted again... etc.
