The phase 1is truly a great car.I have had dealings or owned a few of them .the t5 is fantastic if you can find a good one .Will really bring a smile to your face!
Sold mine before it got me in trouble !
Have also had a phase2 .Mmm.......not bad but constantly throwing faults ,usually electronic .
One thing you will have to work out is ,what types of code reader you need for fault finding on phase ones as the earlier ones are not always fully OBD2 compliant .Many posts about that .
the abs ecu is a famously unreliable but easily replaced ,repaired.
But overall the phase one was a great car ,and there are a few good ones about ,although they are getting less .
If you are a mechanic ,they will always repay your attention and justify repair work .
As a workhorse they are unsurpassed .God knows how much it would cost to build such quality in todays money !
