I didn't mention it in the video, but the fuse for the REM wasn't blown on my car, yet the plate lights were draining the battery - so they were shorted but the fuse wouldn't blow. Maybe try unhooking the connector to the trunk switch and plate lights, see if the problem comes back in rainy days. May use the key to open the trunk (do a test first before closing the trunk).
