Fixed!
I was about to lose all hope with this my car. I discovered the oil had been over filled by previous owner, blowing oil all down the intake pipes, turbo etc. Changed the oil, cleaned the sensors, and now the EGR error has gone away!
(I replaced the EGR a few weeks back). And it has now been error free for almost 2 weeks!
