Did you get the CD error and the CD doesn't come out? Just grab another CD and insert in about 1" slightly downwards (so it slides under the CD that doesn't want to come out) then bent a little the CD downwards and press the eject button. It mostly the CD unit inside has four rubber dampers that are sagging and the CD is becoming misaligned with the opening in the front plate.
As for the swap, I've done it between two similar units, it works but not worth the hassle. Either look for a used 850 from the same years as your car, or a 650
