As Stevo says, it's not really necessary save for really cold starts. If you wish to replace it bring a piece of the existing pipe to a good motor factor and they sholud be able to sell you a length of it to suit your car.

As regards your fuel economy...what parts did they replace? Did they use original Volvo parts?
