I agree with Arcturus...the factory makes lots of cables, so they probably put in the minimum lube in order to maximize their usage (or maybe none at all...after all they are in the business of selling cables...!)...its a cheap and easy improvement for us to make it more than how we receive it...I'd use graphite grease, thinned out with spirits and poured in..when spirits evap away, they will leave cable well lubed, and probably never wanting for more...
