If it is leaking then as you say is isn't bonded properly.
Part of modern vehicle body strength comes from a correctly bonded screen. On that basis of maintaining full safety I would not accept anything other than a screen removal, the bonding sealant cleaned off and then screen resealed and seated correctly.
