Unhappy '89 240 won't start.

Hi all,

I'm sure a fair few of you are on the Facebook group but thought I would seek advice here too.

1989 240 GLT B230e
Car wouldn't start a few days ago.

Shorted fuse 4 & 6 can hear both the in-tank pump and the main pump running. Fuel pump relay doesn't 'click' anymore with ignition on. Replaced this with a 'known working 2nd hand unit' still no click. Shorted the FPR - pumps run continuously - car now starts, but idle is VERY lumpy/rough needs throttle to keep from stalling and it smells VERY rich.

Any ideas? Could it be a vacuum leak or a fuel pressure problem? I'm not sure what to check next.

Many thanks in advance!
