It helps a bit and at certain frequencies. Volvo have started using it on many SPA platform cars even though the tyres are more expensive.
Volvo have even worked with Michelin and Pirelli to develop these tyres (hence the VOL) to mark them as specific to Volvo.

Does this imply that these SPA cars are noisy when fitted with standard, non acoustic, tyres?
The Michelins on mine are holding up very well, but I had considered going for all season tyres when it is time to change.
I put some cross climates on my wife’s V40 and they are very good, so I was thinking about putting a set onto the V90
