Sorry about the delay - been on holiday!

I know it's not your fault...but it is a bit daft on their part. I've never heard of it before - it's always been done on age alone in my experience. Anything above 20 years old (sometimes 15, or I've even heard 10!) is eligible.

What would be suitable criteria? Here are my suggestions...
- Outright rarity (there are fewer than 50 343s on the DVLA register, IIRC)
- Popularity when new against numbers left (long list of 70s and 80s cars which qualify)
- Cult status
- Success in motorsport (300s were very successful in Rallycross for a few years)
- 'Fame' (i.e. Clarkson's hatred of 300s!)

I think, more to the point, any car which has made it to 20+ years old most likely needs special treatment from an insurance point of view - agreed value, limited mileage, potentially light modification. Denying it to particular models based on unknown criteria seems daft.

I wonder if it's the same underwriter who refused any power increase above 25bhp (without any reference to what the car started out with...or kerb weight!)? They both need a good talking to!

cheers

James
