Do not seal any body panel with "Silicone" sealant, these sealants use acetic acid as a solvent and can cause corrosion of your metal work. I would use a generic rubber seal or make one from rubber car mats. The idea is that you want to be able to remove them at least yearly for inspection, clean-out and waxoil retouch-up.
