I think the answer is to try a car on standard suspension and wheels, and look to trade for it. Trying to modify an r design to standard will cost you more in bits and insurance than swapping vehicles.
I left the wifes R Design in for first service on Monday and got an SE as a courtesy car, I thought there would be a noticeable difference in ride. If there was I didn't notice it. No real difference at all, the roads are just plain awful over here and that's the problem. I have a 2014 XC60 SE on 17"s and even it feels a bit harsh. V40 R Design looks awesome so that's the trade off.
