I dropped down into Tescos on my way home tonight. Got out of the car, opened the estate to get out some shopping bags and then all the indicators stared blinking and I knew the immobiliser had set itself. The fob then stopped working. Indicators wouldn't stop. The reset procedure inside the car wouldn't work. The car wouldn't start, it was immobilised. Tried locking and unlocking the car with the key. Kept trying the reset procedure inside the car. Nothing would work. I went into Tescos and decided that when I came out I would have one more attempt, then I would disconnect and reconnect the battery and then I would have to call RAC who could likely do nothing except relay me home. Whilst wandering around Tescos I read this thread but the OP didn't actually tell you what eventually worked for him!:

I came out of Tescos, all the clicky flashing had stopped. Opened the car with the key, it all started again, she wouldn't start, she was immobilised. On my final attempt at the interior reset (before I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery) the reset worked and she started. Drove home, fob didn't work, locked car with key, unlocked car with key, did the reset inside the car and now all is ok again, fob working, immobiliser off, car starting

Now I am very worried this is going to happen again. I am quite happy to buy a brand new fob but I am wondering is the fob actually at fault or is the fault somewhere on the Volvoguard ii system on the car?

Grateful for any advice please
