Default ETM Replaced - Many thanks to Forum

I must admit I had never been to this forum before June despite being in the VOC for the thick end of 20 years. I stumbled across it trying to find out the wheel nut torque settings for my 2001 V70XC which I had just bought from my local main dealer. I was so impressed I thought I would try to find something out about a little thing that was bothering me about the car - the engine was a bit rough when idling. I thought it may have had something to do with the fact that the car had no petrol in it on collection, so there was probably some crud in the fuel system or maybe it was just a characteristic of the car. I did a search and found a thread about something I had never previously heard of - the electronic throttle module. With growing horror I discovered the bad news that this item brings with it. Thanks to this forum I was able to go back to the dealer armed with knowledge that I simply could not have gained from any other source and I told them I wanted it idling properly or they could have it back. First they changed the MAF Sensor and then upgraded the software all to no avail - then on Tuesday of this week (it dragged on a bit as I had three weeks holiday in August) - the news I had been (nearly) praying for - they fitted a replacement ETM. The car is now even more superb than I previously thought it was. I am not technically minded so to have such a mine of information so readily available is completely brilliant. The nightmare I have is that the old ETM might have limped on for a year or so and then I would have been on my own when it packed up completely.
Thank you to all the forum members who have contributed to these pages on the ETM subject and I hope Volvo wake up to the problem and sort everyone out as they should.
