Mine (15.7) doesn't make any odds in neutral when returning to idle with either/both brake and clutch pedal touched.
It has a rock solid idle that doesn't judder at all, its probably the only diesel car I've ever driven that doesn't, most of them stutter at some stage, esp the newer VAG 4 cylinder diesels

Haha very true, mine stutters now just below 1000 rpm before it settles on idle then its fine! I will get to the bottom of it one day but my guess is crank/rpm sensor.
