I made a very simple ring-pull from a piece of wire. It attaches to the lever of the release catch at the same point as the release cable (which remains in place). Wind the end of the wire a few times around the lever so that the ring-pull doesn’t flop around. The ring of the ring-pull sits unobtrusively behind the grill and I can reach it with my finger through the grill. No need therefore to remove the grill.
I have the late model Amazon grill. Possibly it may not work with the type of grill you have.
I find it very useful to have. Hardly ever use the inside pull any more.
