You can get the light to come on by disconnecting any part of the SRS system (whether deliberately or accidentally) without disconnecting battery first, or even by disconnecting battery incorrectly.
Once triggered, the master warning light stays on until it is actively reset... it is saying “there has been a fault detected”, not necessarily that “there is a fault now”. That’s why I suggest resetting the codes first - if it then goes away, problem solved. If the codes come back you still have an issue that needs to be resolved, then you can reset.
