Could be, it shows as a "Serious Fault" on the diagnostics :

That means it will continuosly flash the warning on the switch. Assuming it's not disconnected in which case that will be the fault. I may have misunderstood about the headlining being down, assuming the lamp is still up and all connected including the sensor, it won't make any difference if the headlining is out.
