The worst case scenario for the Volvo is this:
The currently dragging / rubbing brake pads overheat and disintegrate
They and/or their hardware jam in the wheel
The wheel comes to a complete stop at 80 MPH
The effect of a suddenly locked rear wheel causes the rear axle to get ripped out of its mounts
The car veers sideways and rolls
Down a bank and then burst into flames
And lands in a river, upside down
Out of sight of anyone
You die.

Well, you did ask for the worst case scenario
I have spoken to Volvo mechs who have seen the first 5 steps happen - where the axle is ripped out on the motorway by a jammed wheel.
The rest I made up - but you get the message.
