I can't vote, the option is not there. I have heard of the core plug issue but not experienced it...
Also, I had no idea it was rubberised until now. I just thought "core plug" and immediately envisioned a metal cap popped in place. Good point on crankcase pressure/breather causing it as the few replies so far have wildly varying mileages.
