If you are used to doing all of your own maintenance and repairs on your V70R then you should be able to do that on an XC90. If you haven’t got it already – VIDA is a must (well you can manage without it but you will waste hours and hours…). The earlier 163 BHP cars (with cheaper tax) are of a sufficient age now that there are plenty of spares from end of life vehicles so if you have the time and knowledge you can run the reasonably cheaply. With adequate maintenance they are usually very reliable.

They are mechanically similar to the P2 XC70 – main differences are front/rear suspension and some of the electronics are more comprehensive but with VIDA you will be fine.

If you get a good one and bring it up to top spec – a very rewarding and loyal car to own. As said -a superb tow car - the Nivomats make a big difference.
