I don't think that's the way the thread started It was more a heads up for people venturing to France this year.

Around the Le-Mans weekends it's been known for Years (I'm talking as far back as 1989 here) that the French Police tend to target Brits heading to Le-Mans quite heavily whilst Jean & Pierre merrily drive their knackered Renaults without the bother.

I remember one year (1992 maybe) the Police set up a checkpoint just outside -Beaumont to check all the Brits had the pre-requisite items for driving on the French roads & running a mini-bus back to the town to enable those stopped to get the money from the back to pay the on-the-spot fines.
