Back in 2015, Volvo committed to have a complete new line-up of cars by Feb 2019, with the 60 range due in 2018 -

To me, your dealer wants your money now, not next year, so he'll say what he can ( without outright lying ) to persuade you to change sooner rather than later.
But if you really like the XC then go for it, but if you'd rather have the V then there will be a new one next year if you can wait that long. Decisions.......
