Firstly why are they recommending a new pump? If it is because of a minor leak I would check it carefully - I've known dealers condemn pumps that have a little bit of dampness on them that have done another 60k before the car was sold and the fluid never needed topping up. If it leaks to the extent that it needs the fluid topping up then yes it should be changed but if it has simply a damp patch on it - I would continue with it but monitor it every few thousand miles.

Secondly if you don't want the expense of the new Volvo part I would rather fit a second hand Volvo part than a reconditioned or pattern part. That's just my preference though, I've no experience of failures to back that up.

Its not a difficult job but you do need to be able to remove the AUX belt.
