Only ever needed to change clutches and short half shafts on LandRovers over many years of maintaining them whilst serving in HM Forces where they did many miles and were trashed by the average driver - short half shaft only broke because they started in the wrong gear with a heavy load. On my own LandRovers I have had to replace one clutch thrust bearing over 20 years of ownership.

LandRover main and transfer boxes are incredibly simple and easy to fix, just heavy and chunky - plus being essentially the same box that has been used for 50 plus years the reliability is amazing

The SoftRoader versions have lost the engineering and reliability that you find on the agricultural LandRover, in the same way that traditional old Volvo cars only share the name with the present range
