the problem here is your comparing two different cars and i do not know if you drove it with the DMF before it occurred and was converted so to a degree some of your statements are pretty difficult to verify and validate.
I would not do it from the point of view that the 2.0D was DESIGNED and engineered to HAVE a DMF not SMF.
