On my previous car I just added a very generous squirt of Aldi Magnum washing up liquid every time I topped up the washer bottle. Didn't cause any noticeable damage, however the car was never waxed by me in the 10 years I owned it.

The one major trouble with washing up liquid is almost every single one of them contains salt. We all know what salt does to cars!
