The alternative is:
Blindfold yourself, spin around three times, open the bonnet, say four magic words, and touch something inside the engine bay with a screwdriver. That'll be the faulty part.
Or then again maybe not....
The point is, you are blind without reading the codes, and partly blind when reading codes with anything other than VIDA
