The type 9 box can be mounted to the volvo engine with an adaptor plate. A backwards step as most of the ford guys are fitting the volvo box to either a volvo or ford engine in the escorts.
You need to be making a lot of power to remove the best part of a 360 - the rear mounted gearbox. The rear mounted gearbox is something you would normaly find on a Porsche and here it is on a Volvo! If you wanted a convetional setup then go with a 240. The 240 is a complete package ready to make good power. A little big and heavy but hard to break.
