Despite the age of this thread, i have to give thanks to ASAHARTZ for writing this up many moons ago.spent last 4.5 hours on this pig of a job on my 05 D5.

I can confirm it can be done without dropping subframe.

It is limited Access.
The hose came from FRF - £160 inc delivery (,thanks Simon)
A long 1/4drv extension bar was a godsend
The pipe is a different shape
You do need to take the block thingy (its a vibration damper apparently?) Off the front subframe to route the new pipe
New pipe needs encouraged / bent ( carefully, like its your first born) to fit round the engine and front crossmember.

No signs of leaks yet, thanks a million guys
