I can confirm there is something weird going on here. I don't think it has anything to do with keyless entry or user input.
I am in the USA. We recently sold a 2017 XC90 T8 and bought a 2021 XC90 T8, or Recharge, or whatever you want to call it. Both Inscriptions.
In over 75k combined miles, ranging from cold Buffalo NY to warm Palm Beach, FL, I just couldn't tell a pattern. Sunny, hot days, and it stays open. A freezing night in Buffalo and it closes. I ALWAYS used the sports key, so no button presses - and always locked the car in the same way, with a quick tap on the outside door handle.
Multiple dealers tested it, confirmed it is inconsistent and erratic, did not fix it. They would apply some random software update, claiming it would fix it, but it never did.
