Hi HH, what a great post with super pictures, especially for anyone like me who isn't very mechanically minded. My 04 D5 experienced this loss of power this afternoon for the first time. Lasted approx. 30 seconds and the engine service warning flashed up but went off again as the power came back on. This was after I floored it to pass another vehicle going uphill.
After reading this i checked the pipe and mine too is very soft though no signs of damage that i could feel.
I will wait to see how it drives over the next few days, though I'm due to tow my caravan this weekend so dreading what might happen if it happens again with caravan on back.
