I changed my water pump at 86k and it was still In very good condition so it’s likely given the stories that the pumps last a long time.
They are however about £75 quid and with cambelts at 100k miles you would need to be a complete cretin to run a 40k new car and not spend £75.00 quid on a genuine Pump.
